I thought that too for a second. But I think I remember it. It's an annoying squeal. And not the cool annoying squeal like the rainbeetles make. It's why my sound is off.

This. I turn game music off when PvPing.
Diversion does make a sound, but the sound is along with the graphic effect of it landing on a target. By the time you hear it, the effect is on you. You're much better off keeping the enemy Mes in peripheral vision and watching for a spell that has cast time.

- In-game music turned down (it doesn't reflect the intensity of what's going on, kills me)
- Fast-paced, heavy music background (Rammstein, Tool, APC, Deftones...)
- Sound effects loud
- Vent louder.
Having good hearing is FTW in a game like this... I get lost when I can't hear the SFX of my own skills and the one cast on me. I hate muting the sound when the phone rings.

My stand-alone worked fine. Right up until I used it as a flail and smacked my friend in the head with it. It was fun.
If you have the collector's edition of Guild Wars, it usually comes with the Guild Wars music so you can listen to it yourself.

Wait, if you were listening to music, listening to your teammates, and watching TV all at once... you're listening to three things at a time, I don't even know if that's possible.
I usually keep GW on full mute (everything turned off) because my computer handles GW's sound funny, it doesn't play about 40% of the sound effects that I should be hearing, and the remaining 60% sound tinny and low-quality. The music is also too ambient, if I'm going to listen to music I want it to be noticable.

GW music and sounds are always off for me. Other types of music can greatly increase the enjoyment of the game. I only turn off the music when I connect to vent for some HA.

I knew that stuff, but the way he said it looked like he meant you could hear them casting the skills not once they hit you.

It is. Thought we were in the same guild and often in the same team? :P
I can't multitask in general, expect when it comes to sound. I usually have 3+ sources of noise (SFX, music, vent, husband talking, TV...) and it doesn't bother me. I find silence alienating anyways... that's probably why I'm presently going nuts in the countryside, too quiet; missing the city noises.

Well, when I have to listen to more than one person talking, it drives me crazy. I have to focus really hard to listen to one person talking so that I can get what they're saying, if there's another source of noise I can't tell what's going on for either.

Yeah, but what I meant is that it's fairly possible to some people to do that (and since we're often on the same map, or same Vent, and that I do that, well... you should know it's possible hehe =P).

I think you need to downgrade your vacuum cleaner.
I like the music in Guild Wars and often listen to it in PvE. I can imagine that in serious PvP you would want quieter music so you don't get distracted.

I listen to tiesto or van buuren when I play. I enjoy the Guild Wars soundtracks, but after hearing the "theme song" for the 1000th time, they got old.

One of the things I loved about EOTN was how intense the music got when you entered combat. It got me pumped up to kill the enemies, and it made it more entertaining.

Yeah I'd have to agree with the other posters. I have my sound turned off anyway, not that I'm a hardcore pvper but it helps to be able to concentrate and hear what is being cast.
